Panasonic Debuts AI-Powered Wellness Coach at CES 2025, Powered by Anthropic’s Claude

At CES 2025 in Las Vegas, Panasonic introduced its upcoming digital assistant, Umi, designed as a personalized, AI-driven wellness coach for families. Developed in collaboration with Anthropic, Umi utilizes the Claude AI model to help families “care, coordinate, and connect,” according to the company.
Umi’s primary function is to assist families in setting and achieving goals, such as spending more time together or increasing physical activity, through an interactive interface. Users can also engage in voice conversations with Umi.
During Panasonic’s CES keynote presentation on Tuesday, a live demo showed Umi operating within a mobile app. The app enables families to group chat with the AI, set goals, create routines, manage tasks, and more.
The app is also designed to benefit caregivers of elderly family members by allowing them to monitor the well-being of their loved ones, even if they are not physically together. Panasonic is collaborating with AARP to enhance this feature of the Umi platform.
Set to launch in the U.S. in 2025, Umi will also integrate with a network of wellness experts who will help users establish healthy habits and routines. Panasonic has partnered with wellness brands like Aaptiv, Precision Nutrition, SleepScore Labs, Addition Wealth, Blue Apron, Calm, and others, all part of the Panasonic Well Partner Collective, to collaborate with Umi and future Panasonic Well initiatives.
Additionally, the partnership with Anthropic not only enables Panasonic to incorporate Claude AI into its consumer products, but also integrates Claude into the company’s workforce. Panasonic plans to use Claude as a “strategic asset” to enhance performance in areas like customer service, sales, marketing, and coding.
